$10 Billion AI Data Center Planned at Old Homer City Plant Site

A $10 billion AI data center is planned for the site of the former Homer City Generating Station, Pennsylvania's largest coal-fired power plant, which was demolished in 2025. Announced with Governor Josh Shapiro, the project would transform the site into the largest natural-gas-powered data center campus in the country, and would be one of the nation's largest power generation facilities. Developer Homer City Redevelopment says the project honors Homer City's place in Pennsylvania's energy history while meeting the needs of a rapidly shifting energy landscape.
